Is government employment covered in this analysis because it seems headed for a big decline?

Many people dismiss the importance of construction and manufacturing for being "too small" even though they represent 21 million jobs with a HUGE swing during booms and busts.

Federal Government employees are only 3 million jobs.

We'll see what happens at the Federal level, but generally speaking, it's not likely to substantially move the needle in terms of the overall economy.

The "cycle" happens in construction, manufacturing and to a slightly lesser extent, trade & transportation.

It is obvious that if construction and manufacturing start declining big time, the government decline will make the numbers look worse and a potential recession deeper. Though, from Erics comment I can see that government decline alone can not really move the needle much, something I wasn't sure about..
